Reading tools for students, built into your browser

Course pages, online textbooks, assigned articles and research for essays all happen in a browser tab. FocusFlow makes the web easier to read, understand and use, so you can spend your study time on the ideas instead of fighting the page.

Why study reading on screen is hard

  • Long readings come with ads, menus and pop-ups that pull your eyes off the text.
  • Small type and tight lines make it easy to lose your place and reread the same sentence.
  • A dense paragraph can take several passes before it makes sense.
  • After a day of lectures, your eyes are tired before the reading even starts.

How FocusFlow helps you study

Everything below works on the web pages you already use. Features marked PRO need FocusFlow Pro; everything else is free.

Reader Mode for long readings

Open any article in a clean reading view without ads or sidebars. Long pages get an outline of their headings, so you can jump straight to the section you were assigned.

Your font and spacing, on every site

Choose from 8 reading fonts, including Lexend, Atkinson Hyperlegible and OpenDyslexic, and set the text size, line height, letter spacing and word spacing that suit you.

Reading ruler and focus line

A colored band follows your cursor to keep your place, or the focus line dims everything except the line you are reading.

Read aloud

Listen to a selection or a whole page with your device's built-in voices, at a speed from 0.5× to 2×. Word-by-word highlighting and the floating player are PRO.

AI study help PRO

Define a word, simplify a hard passage or summarize a long article. In Reader Mode, Check my understanding asks you questions on what you read, and Words to know lists a section's hard words with their meanings.

Reading List

Save pages for later from the sidebar, Reader Mode or the right-click menu, then mark them read when you are done. No account needed.

FocusFlow was also built for readers with dyslexia, ADHD or visual stress. The same tools help anyone who reads a lot on screen.

Free to start, Pro when you want more

Reader Mode, the 8 reading fonts, typography controls, the reading ruler, the focus line, color overlays, read-aloud and the Reading List are free. Pro adds the AI tools, syllable highlighting, word-by-word read-aloud highlighting, unlimited profiles and settings sync.
