FocusFlow v2.6: The Sidebar Update

FocusFlow v2.6: The Sidebar Update

FocusFlow v2.6 is here โ€” and if v2.5 was about adding powerful new ways to read, v2.6 is about putting every one of those tools right where you need them.

This release is a refinement. We spent it rebuilding the extension around a simple question: if you already love a feature, how do we make it effortless to reach? The answer was a brand-new Advanced Sidebar, a redesigned Quick Tools Popup, and a per-site memory that finally lets every website look exactly the way you want it to.

Here's everything that's new.

๐Ÿงพ Advanced Sidebar

The Advanced Sidebar is the headline of v2.6. Tap Advanced Settings in the popup and a full side panel slides out โ€” organized into four tabs so the controls you need are always a click away.

  • Typography โ€” profiles (Default, Comfortable, Compact), font picker, size stepper, line height, letter spacing, word spacing, and a live preview block so you can see changes before you commit.
  • Visual Aids โ€” the reading ruler, focus line, and color overlay, each with their own color pickers and an opacity slider for the overlay.
  • Reading โ€” Bionic Reading, Text to Speech, and Reader Mode, all toggleable independently.
  • More โ€” site settings (save per-site, apply to all sites, clear overrides), a keyboard-shortcuts reference, and a one-click reset to factory defaults.

Everything FocusFlow can do now lives in one coherent panel. No more hunting through nested menus. No more guessing what a slider does. The sidebar shows you.

โšก Quick Tools Popup

For the tools you reach for constantly โ€” the reading ruler, focus line, color overlay, and Bionic Reading โ€” we've added a Quick Tools row right at the top of the popup. One tap toggles the feature. Another tap turns it off. Each button highlights when it's active so you always know what's running.

This is the fastest path to every reading aid FocusFlow ships with. If you only ever open the popup, you'll never need anything else.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Per-Site Typography

Here's the quiet superpower of v2.6: FocusFlow now remembers a different setup for every website you visit.

Wikipedia can have big, airy OpenDyslexic at 140%. Your email can keep Atkinson Hyperlegible at a tighter 100%. A code documentation site can run Lexend with extra word spacing. You set each site once, and FocusFlow restores exactly those settings whenever you come back.

Under the hood we've built a three-tier hierarchy: factory defaults, your global defaults, and per-site overrides on top. It all lives in local browser storage โ€” nothing is ever transmitted.

Want the full story on how this works and when to use it? Read our deep dive: Per-Site Typography: Why Every Website Deserves Its Own Setup.

๐Ÿ“ Font Size Limits

Some pages bury their body text in 11px gray Helvetica. Others blast you with 72px headlines. Font Size Limits fix both.

Set a minimum and maximum size in pixels, and FocusFlow will clamp every page you visit to that range. Tiny-print footers get rescaled up. Oversized hero headlines get pulled down. You pick the comfort zone once, and every site obeys it.

You'll find the controls in the Typography tab of the sidebar โ€” min goes up to 48px, max up to 200px, and setting either to 0 disables that limit if you prefer the page to keep its own extremes.

๐Ÿ’พ Apply for All Sites

If you've ever built the perfect typography setup and thought "I wish every site I visit looked like this" โ€” v2.6 makes it happen with a single click.

The Apply for All Sites button lives in the More tab under Site Settings. It takes your current typography and pushes it to every site at once, overriding any per-site overrides you've previously saved. It's the nuclear option for when you've found a setup you love and want total consistency across the web.

Prefer to start over from scratch? The Reset Typography button next to it clears every typography value FocusFlow has stored locally โ€” the global baseline and every per-site override โ€” so you're never locked into a choice you made on a rough day.
